Diocese of Swansea and Brecon fundraised for Touch Trust 26/09/2012

Visit to Brecon Cathedral Saturday 22nd September 2012  The sun shone brightly on Saturday – no better kind of day to visit such a picturesque setting.  The Diocese of Swansea and Brecon fundraised for Touch Trust raising a generous sum of £5732.94. Bishop John Davies and the congregation gave such a warm welcome; the service that afternoon was thought provoking and memorable. We are one of the three charities that were chosen, including Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres and The Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East. It was a great opportunity to learn more about the leading work that they do to improve the lives of others

Another Touch Trust Room in the Valleys 20/09/2012

Another Touch Trust Room in the Valleys   …and what an amazing room it is! Headed by a hand made pasta-art version of the Touch Trust logo, the room opens into a relaxing space filled with soft, inviting furnishings and the walls lined with draped materials. To mark the occasion Touch Trust staff,Debbie Fish and Dave Morris, witnessed the ‘cutting of the ribbon’ to officially open the room. Dave also ran a special participatory performance based on Aesop’s fable ‘The Wind and The Sun’. Service users of the day centre revelled at the opportunity to dance and make music, and even the audience (consisting of the catering and gardening staff) joined in the celebrations! Matthew Gough, Co-ordinator Day Services, introduced the occasion and has been pivotal in Touch Trust’s involvement in theRhondda. Treforrest Day Centre is now the third centre in RCT to have an official Touch Trust room… so if you hear any clapping echoing down the valleys, you know what it is!

On Tuesday 28th August 2012 we visited Cardiff Airport Fire Service “Red Watch”. The watch were incredible in raising money for Touch Trust by completing the Men’s Health Run in October last year in Cardiff Bay. It was a beautifully sunny day and adrenaline levels were high!  We were invited to visit there base at the Airport and had a wonderful time! Debbie Fish,Emma Sorano and Rhian Fish (here with us on work experience) had an adventure – right from the beginning! Emma was driving, Debbie was navigating – that combination in itself makes for a very comical unfolding.

Keep it Steady Kath 02/08/2012

If you were to ask Session Leader Katharine about the kind of fundraising she would enjoy the most- on this occasion she would be likely to give you a slightly unconventional response! Dressed in a colourful, vibrant outfit with a side order of feathers; carrying an Egg and Spoon as she ventures to the top of Mount Snowdon is Katherine’s most recent fundraising goal in aid of our life changing work. The highly creative, all-stamina-required event is on Saturday 25th August. We’re hoping for sunshine…or at least dry weather…because we’re the optimistic kind.
